Information for volunteer coaches:

With our recreational programs now being held in-house, volunteer coaches will be asked to complete a background check and SafeSport training.

SafeSport is a standardized program for all coaches and players over the age of 18 involved in U.S. youth sports. It is intended to promote safer youth sports environments and combat abusive behavior from coaches and teammates. The training is free, online, and takes 3-4 hours to complete. SafeSport certification is mandatory for coaching youth sports programs throughout the United States. It is available in multiple languages and has accessibility options. Volunteer coaches can register to receive further instruction on SafeSport certification and completing their background check!

You do not need any soccer experience to coach with Bainbridge Island FC recreational soccer! Coaching orientations and a handbook will be available for all volunteer coaches, as well as weekly coaching plans and additional coaching resources.

Full-time volunteer coaches will receive a 100% refund on their child's playing fee, minus a $45 charge for player insurance and t-shirts.

Part-time coaches who share the coaching role with another family will receive a 50% refund on their child's playing fee, minus a $45 charge for player insurance and t-shirts.

SafeSport certification and a background check must be completed before stepping onto the fields.

Welcome to Bainbridge Island FC Recreational Soccer!

Bainbridge Island FC’s recreational soccer programs are designed to provide a fun, community-oriented soccer experience for players of all skill levels including first-time soccer players, experienced recreational players, and select soccer players.

Our recreation programs put community, sportsmanship, and friendship first. We value the development of interpersonal skills for our players as they learn to interact with high school player-coaches, parent volunteer coaches, referees, and their peers from other grades, schools, and social groups.

The BIFC Recreational Soccer Program is different from the program offered through the Bainbridge Island Parks Department. This program is run by part-time BIFC staff and parent volunteers. BIFC also has dedicated soccer staff committed to the development of players from 3-years through adult. Our recreational program does not provide an intensive training experience for players or coaches, but is an opportunity to get touches on the ball, play with friends, and participate in the BIFC community! If your player is interested in competitive soccer development, we would encourage you to review our Development Academy and Select program offerings.
