We sincerely thank our sponsors for their generous support and commitment, which are instrumental in helping us achieve our goals and foster a thriving soccer community.

Volunteer Coaching

Our recreational coaching staff is key to the success of our seasonal program.  We have been very lucky to have some amazing coaches leading our young players over the years, and we are constantly looking for coaches for each season.  Coaches will receive all the coaching gear they need to be successful and also receive age group appropriate curriculum and activities handbook.

Coaching Incentives

Full-time volunteer coaches will receive a 100% refund on their child’s playing fee, minus a $50 charge for player insurance and t-shirts.

Part-time coaches who share the coaching role with another family will receive a 50% refund on their child’s playing fee, minus a $50 charge for player insurance and t-shirts.

All volunteer coaches will be asked to complete a background check and SafeSport training.

SafeSport is a standardized program for all coaches and players over the age of 18 involved in U.S. youth sports. It is intended to promote safer youth sports environments and combat abusive behavior from coaches and teammates. The training is free, online, and takes about 60-90 minutes to complete. SafeSport certification is mandatory for coaching youth sports programs throughout the United States. It is available in multiple languages and has accessibility options. Volunteer coaches can register to receive further instruction on SafeSport certification and completing their background check!

Want to become a referee?

Join the BIFC Referee Family

We are always in need of more referees and assistant referees. Reffng is a great way for young people to make extra money. Becoming a referee involves taking an online course and doing one day of in-person training (approximately four hours). Referees must be at least 13 years of age in order to referee Select Soccer matches, but younger referees can gain experience by reffing matches in our Recreational League.

BIFC hosts referee clinics as needed to help aspiring referees get started. If you are interested in becoming a referee, please reach out to Ian McCallum (Director of Coaching), Jim Handy (Executive Director) or Stephen Bucy (Kitsap Peninsula Soccer Referees Association President).

Detailed information about becoming a licensed referee can be found here.
